The Office of Congressman Artur Davis Announces $500,000 Loan Awarded to the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries

Loan is expected to create and save at least 200 jobs in rural communities throughout the state

Washington

The Office of Congressman Artur Davis announces that the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries has been selected to receive a $500,000 loan through the United States Department of Agriculture. The loan will relend to Alabama businesses who propose investments in alternative fuel production and delivery, businesses in low income and high unemployment areas and minority and women-owned businesses.

The Alabama Department of Agriculture is one of 23 recipients set to receive more than $13 million in loans and grants as part of the USDA's Intermediary Relending Program. The program is designed to alleviate poverty and increase economic activity and employment in rural communities.
